Launched for America's Bicentennial in 1976, she was indeed the largest, grandest paddlewheeler the river had ever seen. Stroll her richly appointed public rooms and you will be charmed by her Tiffany stained glass windows, original oil paintings in the Grand Salon and will quickly succumb to the rhythm of the paddlewheel as you travel through America at eight knots on a real Steamboat!

Mississippi Queen offers elegant accommodations with every modern amenity you would expect, the splendid Paddlewheel Bar offering up some of the best Dixieland jazz in the World, great dining including southern specialties like fried chicken, pecan pie, piping hot cream biscuits and superb baked ham, to name just a few. There is an outdoor but shaded Calliope Bar for casual lunches, a swimming pool, fitness room and plenty of broad decks to enjoy that book you need to catch up on.

For those passengers who have cruised on ocean going vessels, this is very different in that it is very casual, there is scenery around every corner and each day you pull into a charming town, rich in history.

A highlight of our cruise is a special shore excursions, with our compliments to Galena, Illinois, a 19th century jewel with its quaint shops, marvelous architecture and lovely setting, during the Steamboat port call at Dubuque, Iowa. Many of our travelers rank this visit to Galena the highlight of their passage up the Mississippi and you will soon see why. The boat does not offer this tour and it is only available through Uncommon Journeys-Train Holidays!

Call now and enjoy free round-trip train travel from your hometown to & from the Steamboat, a nice savings and a wonderful start to your holiday. Guests booking Veranda cabins may choose from free train or air travel.
