Visit a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage Site where native North Americans once drove buffalo off a cliff, stay in a lodge perched above a mountain lake in Waterton and then settle in for four peerless nights in the charming town of Banff. Take in the picture-postcard views of Caribbean-blue Lake Louise and on the shores of Moraine Lake, see the iconic panorama of the Canadian Rockies. Day 1: Great Western Limited

Board the Great Western Limited in Seattle this afternoon as the restored Vista-Dome Streamliner train runs alongside Puget Sound. Cross the Cascades while enjoying an elegant dinner. Travel back to a time when Santa Fe’s Super Chief brought stars to Hollywood, where CEOs traveled along Great Northern’s Empire Builder from Chicago to Seattle and the Vista-Dome rail car, with its dramatic curving walls of glass, was the sensation of the era. It was the Golden Age of Rail Travel. (R,D)

Day 2: Glacier National Park, MT

Disembark in Glacier National Park this morning for a boat cruise on stunning Lake McDonald. Have all day to enjoy this magnificent lakeside setting and the national historic Lake McDonald Lodge with sweeping mountain vistas. A National Historic Landmark built in 1913 inside Glacier National Park on the shore of a pristine mountain lake, this elaborate lodge is patterned after Swiss chalets and is based on a design by Kirtland Cutter. The July & August departures will overnight at the Lake McDonald Lodge and the June & September departures will stay at the luxurious Lodge at Whitefish Lake in nearby Whitefish, MT. (B)

Day 3: Waterton, AB

Enjoy a day of spectacular sightseeing in Glacier National Park including the famed “Going to the Sun Road” over the Continental Divide aboard an iconic red open-air “jammer bus.” Later today, enter Canada and overnight at the historic Prince of Wales Hotel at Waterton Lake. Built in 1927 on a bluff overlooking Waterton Lake, the Prince of Wales Hotel was built as a bid to capitalize on American’s thirst for adventure across the border during Prohibition. The August & September departures will stay at the Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort. (B)

Day 4: Banff, AB

Depart Waterton this morning with a stop in fascinating Head Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then arrive in Banff and begin your four-night stay in Banff at the iconic Banff Springs Hotel on the June departure, the glorious Delta Banff Royal Canadian Lodge on the July departure and the charming Banff Aspen Lodge on the August and September trips. Day 7: Banff, AB

Relax and enjoy a day on your own in Banff, and visit the nearby Whyte Museum for a view of historic Banff and its beginnings, see the superb Banff Center for the Arts or go river rafting on the Bow River. After a Farewell Dinner, spend the evening strolling through Cascade Gardens, a delightful way to bid adieu to this magical village. (B,D)

Awake and be transferred to Calgary airport by 11 am where easy connections can be made for all US points. (B)

Same as Standard Double Bedroom except instead of two armchairs, features large sofa by day. These rooms are also slightly larger in length.


Suite Accommodations*
Featuring a large double bed that folds into the wall when not in use. Includes a private bathroom with a shower, as well as a closet for hanging clothes. (*Suite availability is very limited aboard the train. Only one per departure! Suites are approx. 14’ x 7’)


Single Occupancy
Including one roomette aboard the train and exclusive single occupancy Hotel accommodations throughout. Lower bed with washbasin and toilet.
