Royal Hawaiian Holiday

Hawaii in the Grand Manner by Ocean Liner with Cunard's Queen Victoria

Until a few decades ago, one of the world's great travel experiences was the voyage by luxury liner to Hawaii from California, with the thrill of sailing past Diamond Head, a magical journey enjoyed by millions until 1979. With relaxing days at sea, the historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel and elegant travel not hampered by cramped airline seating and 'red-eye' schedules, Hawaii by great ocean liner from California was a memorable way to arrive in the Islands. It will be again, since we have constructed two special holidays that offer the best of the Islands, all with the sublime treat of unpacking once.

The new Cunard liner 'Queen Victoria', heir to a proud tradition established by the original Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth and later by the Queen Elizabeth 2, sailing right from Los Angeles is our civilized conveyance to the Islands. We begin with free or low-cost train travel to Los Angeles from any US point along with a luxury hotel stay to avoid any concern about tight same-day connections. Aboard Queen Victoria, we enjoy the classic ocean liner crossing to Hawaii and once there, explore this lovely state in great comfort, without having to hop on and off inter-island flights, change hotels every few days or deal with any of the hassle of connections. Instead you will see Hawaii as it should be seen, by sea, visiting Hilo, Maui, Kauai and Honolulu, all in one leisurely voyage. Nicer still, we have included shore excursions in every port as well as a special luncheon at the storied Royal Hawaiian Hotel, an elegant and nostalgic coda evoking the great days of luxury liners to Honolulu.

Best of all, despite Hawaii's great beauty, guests enjoy another 'island' on this holiday, the superb Queen Victoria with her lavish public rooms including the grand two-deck high Queen's Room, complete with chandeliers, for traditional Afternoon Tea daily and big band music every evening. There is also a two-story library, the swank Royal Court Theatre, the Golden Lion Pub, a complete spa/health centre and more amenities including acres of open deck space, than most small cities. In an age of countless characterless jumbo cruise ships, there are only three great 'Queen' liners and we invite you to join us.

Highlights

  • Complimentary round-trip travel from any California point to & from Los Angeles. For guests living in the rest of the country, we have low round-trip train fares ranging between $99-$299pp. For those with less time, we offer low air add-on fares that are as little at $399 round-trip from over 200 gateway cities.

  • Overnight luxury hotel stay in Los Angeles the evening before sailing, avoiding any concern over tight same-day connections, with welcome reception, a civilized beginning to your holiday.

  • Transfer to ship on sailing day with special bon voyage luncheon aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach before boarding the Queen Victoria ten minutes away, a nice pairing of the oldest Cunard liner afloat and the newest.

  • 14-night round-trip voyage to Hawaii aboard Queen Victoria with visits to Hilo, Honolulu, Kauai and Maui. Naturally, all meals & entertainment aboard Queen Victoria are included.

  • Complimentary shore excursions in every port of call, a great value and money-saving bonus.

  • Special luncheon at the fabled Royal Hawaiian Hotel during our port call in Honolulu.

  • Fully hosted from start to finish by professional tour manager with special events and parties onboard.

  • Welcome aboard bottle of French Champagne in your stateroom on sailing day

Complimentary Shore Excursions

Complimentary Shore Excursions

We have added in an amenity that every experienced cruise traveler will immediately appreciate. A comprehensive shore excursion is included in each port of call, carefully chosen and presented with our compliments. Rather than the usual dreary tour with little sightseeing and lots of shopping, we have included such treats as a visit to stunning Waimea Canyon, the fabled 'Grand Canyon of Hawaii' during our port call in Kauai and during our stay in Honolulu, to Pearl Harbor including the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial. The quality of these excursions is typified by the fact that one of the many treats is our lunch at the legendary Royal Hawaiian Hotel, a nostalgic and elegant interlude.
